Do Care is a Social Support Program that addresses social isolation and assists individuals to improve confidence and become involved in their community, by one to one matching with a volunteer or by providing regular outings and social activities.

Do Care is for the frail aged, or people who have a disAbility, and who live independently in their own home and experience social isolation.

People wishing to become a volunteer are required to undergo an assessment, police check and attend training sessions.

Once volunteers are approved, they are provided with ongoing support and supervision. Volunteers can be matched in a one to one relationship or they can become involved in group activities.

A referral to Do Care may be a self referral, from the person's doctor, a social worker, a family member, a neighbour, or a friend. Once the referral is made, the co-ordinator will visit the person being referred to discuss their needs.

Do Care is funded through DHS HACC.

"We can cure physical diseases with medicine but the only cure for loneliness is love. There are many people in the world who are dying for a piece of bread, but there are many more dying for a little love."
(Mother Teresa, 1910 - 1979)
