                  About Us

UnitingCare Ballarat is a progressive multi-program community service agency with 52 projects across six program areas:

                  Housing
Welfare & Support
Aged Care & Disability
Alcohol & Other Drugs
Lifeline & Family Counselling
Early Childhood Services.

Over 550 volunteers and 135 staff work to provide community services to individuals, families and groups with priority to the most disadvantaged. UnitingCare Ballarat is committed to new project ideas that address social issues in our community.

UnitingCare Ballarat is unique in four areas.

  • The wide range of services across our six program areas makes UCB a one stop shop for counselling and support. People can be easily cross-referred to 52 projects.

  • Our history of taking on exclusive vital programs on behalf of the wider Ballarat community.
     - Ballarat’s only Meals Program for the Homeless (Breezeway)
     - Lifeline Ballarat’s 24 hour telephone Counselling Service
     - Do Care’s friendly visiting to older people in their homes.
     - The region’s only Youth Residential Alcohol & Drug Withdrawal Centre (Tabor House)

  • UCB’s role in Housing & Homeless Support. UCB is the region’s entry point for homeless people and people in housing crisis. We manage over 150 properties including Reid’s Guest house and two rooming Houses. If you are homeless or have a housing crisis, people can drop-in without appointment and arrange an immediate meeting with a housing worker. The Housing Program is adjacent to Breezeway – Ballarat’s only Meals Program for Homeless People where people can get a nutritional meal every day of the year. At Breezeway, people can also easily access a range of health and homeless support services.

  • The significant role of our 550 volunteers. With 100 volunteers working as counsellors at Lifeline’s 24 hour telephone counselling, 40 volunteers at Ballarat’s  only Meals Program for Homeless People, over 250 volunteers providing friendship and support for isolated older people and people with disabilities and a team of volunteers who cook, drive, visit, counsel, provide friendship, fundraise, answer phones, work in op-shops, pack food hampers, clean, care and contribute great ideas and spirit; UnitingCare would not be able to do its vital work without volunteers.
